Police Search for Suspect in Armed Robbery at Clifton and Shafter
Anyone who witnessed the robbery or who has video surveillance cameras in the area is asked to contact Oakland police.

Oakland police searched Monday afternoon for a man who stole a cell phone at gunpoint near the corner of Clifton Street and Shafter Avenue shortly before 1 p.m., according to an Oakland Police Department bulletin.
The armed robbery was reported at 12:50 p.m. and officers arrived at the scene seven minutes later, the bulletin said.
The robber ran onto Shafter, crossed 51st Street, and then turned right onto 49th Street, police said. (Emerson Elementary School is located at that corner.)
The robber is described as a black male about 20 years old, 5'10" tall, weighing about 180 pounds and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or who has access to video surveillance cameras in the area is asked to contact Oakland police at (510) 777-3333.

Another armed robbery committed by a man with a similar description was reported a few minutes earlier in Oakland's Adams Point neighborhood, according to this report Monday from Bay City News Service:
Police searched a neighborhood near Oakland's Lake Merritt for an armed robber this afternoon but were unable to find him.
Officers responded to a report of a robbery at Euclid and Van Buren avenues in the city's Adams Point neighborhood at 12:41 p.m., Officer J. Moore said.
The suspect stole the victim's purse and cellphone at gunpoint, police said.
sOfficer scoured the neighborhood, but the robber was not found and the search ended shortly after 1:30 p.m., Moore said.
The suspect is described as a black man about 20 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans at the time of the robbery and was last seen running up Bellevue Avenue toward Palm Avenue, police said.
