Restaurant Watch: The Hog's Apothecary Aims to Open by Early September

Better late than never — the Temescal beer hall, originally scheduled to open late February, now hopes to be in business in about six weeks.

The Hog's Apothecary, an American-style beer hall at 375 - 40th St., will open in six weeks or so if all goes well, according to the pub's Facebook page

"We're in the final stretch! Provided all inspections and the like go as planned we should have the doors open around the end of August/ beginning of September," the owners posted Thursday.

The beer hall was originally scheduled to open last February, but remodeling went more slowly and cost more than anticipated. In May the owners asked for $20,000 in donations (through indiegogo.com) to pay the costs of custom-made tables, chairs and barstools and other items. They exceeded their fundraising goal by $845.

The Hog's Apothecary will feature a selection of craft beers and artisanal sausages and two offer dartboards, shuffleboard and multiple TVs for sports viewing.
