$190K Raised For Family Of CA Boy, 2, Killed By Falling Tree In Storm
Aeon Tocchini, 2, died Wednesday evening when a redwood tree fell onto his home in rural Sonoma County.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A GoFundMe account set up for the parents of a toddler who was killed in Occidental when a redwood fell onto his home has raised more than $190,000 as of Friday from over 2,700 people pouring in support.
Aeon Tocchini, 2, was killed Wednesday evening when the tree fell onto his home and crushed him as he sat on a couch, Sonoma County sheriff's Sgt. Juan Valencia said.
The double-wide mobile home in the 2800 block of Joy Road was in a sparsely populated, densely wooded area that was heavily impacted by the atmospheric river that pummeled the greater Bay Area this week, with "trees falling left and right," Valencia said.

The boy's distraught father and a neighbor pulled the child out of the residence but were not able to revive him. Medical personnel also could not save him and Aeon was pronounced dead at 5:48 p.m. Wednesday.
Forty-eight hours later, the GoFundMe page, "Aeon Tocchini Forever in our Hearts," had accumulated over $190,000 in donations.

"You never imagine tragedy hitting your own family, until one day, it does," wrote Aeon's aunt, Liz Haskins, who organized the fundraising campaign. "Our family is shocked and rocked to the core."
Haskins said Aeon was affectionately referred to as "Goldie" by his family due to his blond hair but also because he "shined like the sun."
"Goldie loved to dance, music moved his soul," Haskins wrote. "He was kind, gentle, and had the most loving spirit. He loved the outdoors like his mama and his daddy was his hero. He was deeply adored by his family and he instantly stole the hearts of those around him."
Aeon was the youngest child of Dan and Aisha Tocchini; and was a little brother to his two older siblings, Eden and Danny.
Haskins said money donated to the GoFundMewill go toward funeral expenses but also to help "rebuild" the family, who now need a new home and vehicle.
"My brother has not only lost his precious son but also lost his home," she wrote."Three redwood trees fell on his house and his truck during the storm."
The Sheriff's Office confirmed the family's home was destroyed and uninhabitable.
A medical examiner will perform an autopsy, but the Sheriff's Office said the child's death was consistent with the circumstances.
