Inmate Escapes Sonoma County Jail
The Petaluma man escaped Tuesday morning from the Santa Rosa facility, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A Sonoma County jail inmate escaped custody Tuesday morning and remained at large more than an hour later, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.
Around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, John Avilla, 39, of Petaluma, ran from the loading dock of the Sonoma County Jail at 2777 Ventura Ave. in Santa Rosa, the sheriff's office said.
Avilla was described as a 5-foot-7-inch white man who weighs 210 pounds and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt over a blue T-shirt and white pants over blue shorts.

Avilla has been in custody at the Sonoma County jail since Nov. 14 for a possession of a stolen vehicle charge.
Authorities asked anyone who sees Avilla to immediately call 911.
