Suspected Carjackers Apprehended Days Later

A local driver was offered an ultimatum he didn't really ask for.

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a carjacking that occurred Wednesday night.

While stopped at the intersection of Micron Avenue and Bradshaw Road, a Rosemont driver was given an offer he couldn't refuse: Step out of his rental car or say hello to the receiving end of a loaded hand gun.

The driver chose the former option.

The victim was stopped at a traffic signal, waiting for the light to turn green around 10:30 p.m. when the incident occurred, according to a report filed by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

The victim was left there at the intersection sans car. However, he wouldn’t have to wait long before being reunited with his rental vehicle.

"The carjacked vehicle was actually found by our officers this morning (Friday), around 2:30 a.m., in the 2700 block of Cabernet Way," said sheriff's department spokesman Dep. Jason Ramos in an e-mail.

Ramos said it was good, pro-active police work that led authorities to the suspects as the rental car was not equipped with a LoJack or other security tracking system.

“We probably would have found the vehicle a lot faster if it had had a LoJack,” Ramos said.

Ramos explained deputies saw the vehicle at 2:30 in the morning with the two suspects in and around it.

“(The deputies) ran the plate; it came back as a carjacked vehicle, so they got arrested,” Ramos said.

Both suspects list residences in Rancho Cordova, Ramos said.

Christopher Bush, 26, and Amber Prescott, 31, were arrested.

Bush faces a felony stolen property charge and a charge of parole violation.

Prescott is charged with three felonies: a stolen property charge, impersonation and a charge of probation violation. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of giving false identification to a police officer.

Both are due in court Tuesday.
