Elverta Road is Getting a Facelift, Closures and Detours Expected Until Mid-October
Elverta Road to close completely beginning August 19.

Release by Sacramento County
The Sacramento County Department of Transportation is alerting motorists that starting on Monday, August 19, 2013, there will be a full closure of Elverta Road from State Route 99 (SR 99) to East Levee Road. West Elverta Road from SR 99 to Metro Air Parkway has been closed since August 2012.Â
These closures impact all eastbound and westbound traffic on Elverta Road -- from Metro Air Parkway to East Levee Road -- including vehicles and bicycles. Closing Elverta Road from SR 99 to East Levee Road will expedite completion of the SR 99 @ Elverta Road Interchange Project.Â

West Elverta Road will continue to be closed until mid-October also.
Detour Route: The project detour route for West Elverta Road is Elkhorn Boulevard to Metro Air Parkway. Elkhorn Boulevard is approximately 2 miles south of West Elverta Road. Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists around the closure.
This project will construct a new interchange to replace the existing at-grade signalized intersection at this location. Major elements of the interchange project include:
- Construction of a new interchange with ramp meters and HOV by-pass lanes on all freeway on-ramps.
- Widening and reconstructing approximately 1 mile of Elverta Road.
- Addition of bicycle lanes and sidewalks.
- Relocation of existing drainage canals.
- Two new traffic signals at the terminus of the freeway off-ramps.
- Drought tolerant landscaping in the four quadrants of the interchange.
Your Patience is Appreciated: Sacramento County understands the challenges and inconvenience that commuters, residents, businesses and bicyclists will experience during the closure period. The patience and cooperation of the traveling public is appreciated as work to construct the interchange project continues.
