Girls Basketball: Capital Christian Has High Expectations
Cougars one of top three teams in Golden Empire League.
girls basketball coaches and players say they always look to compete strong in the Golden Empire League.
"We always have high expectations," said Cougars coach Suzanne Baker. "The girls win some and lose some but they bounce back."
Capital Christian is 12-8 on the season, entering Friday's game at West Campus High School. The at the beginning of December.

The Cougars have runner-up finishes in three tournaments- the Rumble in the Jungle, the Claude Brock Memorial and the Folsom Tournament. In the Claude Brock Memorial tournament, Capital Christian defeated Carmichael-area school and Grant before falling to Vanden of Fairfield in the final.
The Cougars are now in league play, where their toughest opponents are Dixon and West Campus, which is now ranked No. 19 by The Bee. The Rams won at Capital Christian 69-54 on Jan. 20.

"We expect to play for the league championship," said senior forward-guard and co-captain . "I feel we match up well against (Dixon and West Campus)... it's about who has the heart to get the wins."
Senior guard Milan James is also a Cougars' co-captain.
"The coaches help us do what is right on the court," James said. "But as seniors, we help the younger players come along."
Three Capital Christian starters are underclassmen- sophomore guard Haleigh Filer and sisters Monique (sophomore) and Nicole (freshman) Colbert (both forwards).
"The seniors are good leaders; they help us fix things on the court," Filer said. "We have the tools to win; we just need to put them into action."
