"Got Muscle" Told to Take Down Their Sign, They Respond with a Lawsuit Against the City

Got Muscle Health Club was told their sign was in violation of the City of Sacramento's code enforcement ban on sandwich board signs, they have since filed a federal lawsuit in response.

Got Muscle, a Sacramento gym on Folsom Boulevard, filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against the city of Sacramento, according to KCRA news.

Owners Carl and Elizabeth Fears reportedly claim their First Amendment rights of free speech were violated by the city's code enforcement ban against sandwich board signs.

"Every business you see in town has these types of signs, whether they're stuck in the ground with a little post or the sandwich board signs," Carl Fears told KCRA 3.

But Fears was hit with a notice of violation by a city code enforcement officer and is now facing a $900 a day fine if left up.
