Rosemont QB Ready for Spotlight

When the Rosemont Wolverines began this season, they were coming off having made it to the in 2010.

, whom head coach Rick Wanlin called "the best quarterback I have ever coached," graduated last spring. Enriquez threw for 3,120 yards and 32 touchdowns and ran for another six scores.

Senior Jacob "Tex" Smith and junior Tyler Masterson battled it out for the starting job behind center at the beginning of this season, Wanlin said. After Smith began the season as the starter, Masterson, who can also play wide receiver, free safety, and is the team's kicker and punter, begins his second game going into tonight's homecoming game against .

"There is a little more pressure this year," Masterson said at practice this week. "The team is younger and we want to be as good as last year if not better."

Masterson played last year with the in the NFL’s Flag National Tournament of Champions in Florida.

He said his highlight of this season for Rosemont was the Wolverines' first win against following three losses to start the season.

Tonight's game offers a chance for Rosemont (3-3) to go above .500 on the season.

"There are a little bit of nerves," Masterson said. "It's a big game for us and we should be fine. We'll take the rest of the season one game at a time and focus on the team coming up next."
