Sacramento County's Website Domain Changed To SacCounty.GOV

The public will be able to continue to access the County's websites using SacCounty.net or the new SacCounty.gov domain.

Sacramento County has updated the County’s website domain name from SacCounty.net to SacCounty.gov. With recent federal policy changes, the County’s Department of Technology was able to acquire the .gov domain, and over the last weekend, the County began converting its portal and department websites.

Sacramento County Chief Information Officer Rami Zakaria, said, “The change from .net to .gov will now accurately portray the credibility of our county government domain designation.”

The public will be able to continue to access the County’s websites using SacCounty.net or the new SacCounty.gov domain. The County’s information technology staff will also gradually update its Internet web applications to SacCounty.gov, such as eProp-Tax, My Utilities and Planning Project Viewer. As with its websites, the public’s overall experience with the updated application domain is also expected to be seamless.

Sacramento County Deputy County Executive David Villanueva, said, “Having .net and .gov as redundancy of access will also allow County staff to prioritize the update of its public materials, templates and stationary to the new domain when supplies run low or as new projects are launched.” The County’s portal has received multiple awards and accolades, including Best of the Web for state and local government websites, a Citizen-Engaged Community title for embracing a single point of contact with Sac County 311 Connect website, a Tech Savvy Designation for collaboration, creativity, technology leadership and proven best practices, and named a leader in innovative technology practices among U.S. counties.

In the footer of the Sacramento County portal and department websites, it lists a website feedback form to report website issues, our website policies & use, and the county’s website privacy policy.

Additionally, there are quick links to report a problem in the County, information on how to contact us and where to connect with us on various County social media accounts or to sign up for email and text message notifications.

It’s official, we are SacCounty.gov!
