Should Sacramento Supervisors Join the Anti-Frack Camp?
Fracking is not a dirty dance, but something that some say hurts the environment.

It's called fracking, and no, it's not something on "Fraggle Rock" or "Halo."Β
It's theΒ technique of blasting a mixture of water, sand and chemicals at dense shale rock to release the bubbles of oil or gas trapped within. And it's got Marin County supervisors calling for a ban on fracking.Β
According to this story in our sister site Mill Valley Patch, supervisors voted unanimously for a moratorium on fracking. Their resolution --Β Β put forward by Supervisors Kate Sears and Steve Kinsey --Β declares that fracking should be banned until its potential environmental impacts in the form of water and air pollution can be regulated.
Marin is the first county in CaliforniaΒ to explicitly call for a fracking moratorium. Cities such asΒ Oakland, Culver City, Carson and Berkeley have passed similar resolutions.Β
And now we ask the readers of the Sacramento-area Patch sites. Should our local Board of Supervisors back a similar resolution?Β
