Woman Dies in Head-on Crash on Howe Avenue

The 71-year-old woman was driving south on Howe Avenue and crashed into an Acura.

A 71-year-old Sacramento woman veered into oncoming traffic northwest of Rosemont Wednesday night and was killed, the CHP announced.

The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was driving south on Howe Avenue near Northrop Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the CHP.

For unknown reasons, her 2012 Nissan Versa veered into oncoming traffic.

"As she entered the intersection, her vehicle struck the front of a grey 2006 Acura TSX that was traveling northbound Howe Avenue," the CHP said in a press release. "The female driver was unresponsive upon contact by fire personnel and was transported to Sutter Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased."

The driver of the Acura, a man from Roseville, had complaints of pain but was not taken to the hospital.

The CHP is still investigating the crash, but doesn't think alcohol or drugs were a factor.
