14-Year-Old's Race Bicycle Stolen a Few Days Before Major Competition

Roseville Police are asking for the public's help with finding a special race bicycle that was stolen over the weekend.

The bike, a "Haro Prosize BMX racing bike with black forks, purple hubs and rainbow spokes," was going to be used by a 14-year-old Roseville resident in a national championship event Wednesday, police say.

The bicycle was taken from a locked SUV on East Colonial Parkway in the East Roseville / Maidu Park area between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

"Someone has already donated a bike for the teenager to use in the competition, so the family's not asking for money or another bike," the police department said in an email. "The girl would like to get her own familiar bike back--the one she always rides, the one she's most comfortable and confident using in competition.  The girl raised the money and paid for this bike herself."

Here's what police say to do if you've spotted the bicycle:

If you've seen this distinctive bike around the neighborhood or have any information about where it might be, give us a call at 774-5000 extension 1, or submit a tip.  You can submit a tip anonymously through our website at www.roseville.ca.us/police (select "submit a tip" from the menu on the left), or text your tip to CRIMES (274637), starting your tip with the word "ROSEVILLE".
