4-Year-Old Girl Reports Father Killed Himself, 2 Others

PINE GROVE, CA -- A California 4-year-old reportedly called her grandmother after her father shot himself and killed two others. The Sacramento Bee reported the grandmother then called police to report the shooting that killed Jacob Jedidiah Thayer, the girl's father, Marie Ann Leonetti and Richard Roger Thayer II.

"Jacob Thayer’s mother had left the home earlier that evening to care for a family member," the Bee reported. "Just before 3 a.m., she received a call from her granddaughter on Richard Thayer’s cellphone saying that her father had shot himself, according to the Sheriff’s Office."

The Bee reported arriving officers found Jacob Thayer with one gunshot wound and the others with multiple.

"A partially loaded Glock .40 caliber pistol registered to Jacob Thayer was found next to him," the Bee reported.

The shooting is under investigation.
