Business News: Icing on the Cupcake Plans to Open Granite Bay Location

Something sweet is coming to Granite Bay. 

Icing on the Cupcake, a cupcake boutique with locations in Rocklin, Sacramento, Folsom and Citrus Heights, plans to open a Granite Bay location late spring. 

At the recently opened Citrus Heights location and at the anticipated Granite Bay store, they will serve more than just cupcakes. In addition to cupcakes filling the menu, they will also bake up other personal gourmet desserts like cheesecakes, sugar cookie sandwiches, tart lemon cookies and individual sized pies. 

These additions will make their way to the other stores within the next 18 to 24 months, according to founder Christee Owens in a press release. 

“We are in this for the long term,” Owens said in a release. “We have had tremendous success focusing on our core cupcake business. Yet, the dessert business is cyclical and so we are always looking to see ‘what’s next’ on the horizon to keep our business relevant."

The Granite Bay store will open at the corner of Douglas and Sierra College boulevards at the Roseville/Granite Bay border at the Renaissance Creek center, 3980 Douglas Blvd.

Their cupcake menu includes flavors like chocolate mint, confetti cake, maple bacon, pineapple and their signature Pinkdelicious chocolate cake topped with pink vanilla buttercream frosting.
