Butterflies, Birds, Wildflowers: The Essence Of Spring In Photos

The Dry Creek area of Roseville is resplendent in spring finery.

ROSEVILLE, CA — If spring is one of your favorite times of the year, you need to get out in nature now!

Tim McClellan snapped these photos over the holiday weekend in a forest in the Dry Creek area in Roseville. "The weather was sunny and warm but the shade of the trees made for a really comfortable spring stroll through the woods," he told Patch in an email.

"There were turkey vultures flying above, a peregrine falcon, doves and other locally native birds actively singing."

Tim shared photos of two butterflies — swallowtail and black swallowtail.

"The butterflies were many and so beautifully radiant in color and charm. The wildflowers were in bloom, the grass was tall and full, the trees healthy and green, squirrels climbing about with even a juvenile blue belly lizard darting around."

Thank you for submitting your photos.
