City Could Sell Old Auburn Ranch Property it Has Owned Since 1988

The land, located at the corner of South Cirby Way and Old Auburn Road, was purchased for $800,000.

It's a seller's market in the real estate world right now, and the city of Roseville has taken note.

The city this week could move to sell a 19-acre property at South Cirby Way and Old Auburn Road. The land was purchased for $800,000 in 1988 for a road realignment, but neighbors objected and only part of the property was used. The city tried to sell it in 2005, but couldn't find a buyer.

The Roseville City Council on Wednesday will consider putting the property back on the market.

The property is already zoned for a 32-lot subdivision, but it wouldn't all turn into houses: 6.75 acres could be used for housing and the remaining 12.45 acres would be given back to the city for open space and flood protection, according to a staff report.

The land was formerly known as Old Auburn Ranch, then Spahn Ranch, the staff report states.

If it sells, the money would go toward traffic mitigation.
