Coroner's Office Plans Burial Service for Dead Newborn Found in Roseville Park

A burial service is planned for a newborn baby girl who was found dead in the bushes at Saugstad Park in Roseville July 8.
The identity of the newborn is still unknown, according to Roseville Police.
The Placer County Coroner's Office has arranged a burial service for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the new Auburn Public Cemetery, 1040 Collins Drive in Auburn. The service is open to the public.

According to Roseville Police, "on the morning of July 8, City of Roseville park maintenance workers found a box hidden in bushes in Saugstad Park. Inside the box, carefully wrapped in a blanket and a plastic bag, was the body of a deceased newborn girl, with her umbilical cord still attached. The baby appeared to have been deceased for a few days. There were no signs of traumatic injury, and she may have been stillborn. Her cause of death is still unknown, pending the final autopsy report. Her family has not yet come forward to identify her."
