Crime Watch: Catalytic Converter Thieves Target Foothills-Junction Neighborhood

Catalytic Converter Thefts:Β
Between 5 p.m. July 16 and 9 a.m. July 17, someone stole the catalytic converter from a Toyota Tundra pickup parked in the 1100 block of Coral Drive.
Catalytic converter thieves stole from a Toyota Sequoia SUV parked in a driveway in the 1000 block of Killarney Street between midnight and 5 a.m. on July 22.

Catalytic converter thieves have hit the Foothills-Junction neighborhood hard lately, according to Roseville Police. and more this week, including:
1600 block of Alnwick (overnight July 19/20, targeted vehicle was a Toyota Sequoia SUV)

2200 block of Longview Drive (Overnight July 11/12, targeted vehicle was a Toyota Sequoia)
1600 block of Revere Drive (between July 13-16, targeted vehicle was a Toyota Tundra pickup)
Tips from Roseville Police: If you own a Toyota truck or SUV, or similar vehicle, please park it in your locked garage at night if at all possible. If that's not possible, you might want to talk to your mechanic about measures that can be taken to make your converter harder to steal.Β There are anti-theft devices, like catalytic converter cages, available on the Internet that you might want to consider.Β If you see anyone snooping around and looking or crawling under vehicles, get a good description, including their vehicle and vehicle license number if possible, and call 911 immediately.
2 Men Slap, Rob Man on Vernon Street
Theiles Manor, robbery: At 1:25 p.m. July 23, two unidentified males accosted another male who was walking on Vernon Street near Sixth Street, slapped him lightly on the face and took his wallet.Β
The suspects were described as a black male in his mid-20s, 5'9" tall and 180 pounds, with shoulder-length braids or dreadlocks, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.Β He was riding a silver BMX style bike; the second suspect was described as a black male in his late 20s, 5'8" tall and 160 pounds, with short black hair, wearing a black baseball cap and white t-shirt, riding an older black BMX-type bike.
2 Found With Drugs, Burglarβs Tool, Arrested
At about 12:45 p.m. July 16, an anonymous citizen reported a suspicious white van parked at the corner of Porter Drive and Modessa Court.Β The van was displaying different front and rear license plates, and the caller thought the people in the van were acting suspicious.Β
Within minutes, officers responded and contacted the occupants of the van, who both appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Officers found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and burglar's tools.Β Officers arrested the two men, a 34-year-old from Roseville and a 43-year-old from Sacramento.
Residential Burglaries:
Saturday, July 14
Between July 14 and 19, someone pried the doors to a vacant house in the 400 block of Dawnridge Road, and stole some aluminum cans from the side yard. Nothing was reported missing from the house.
Sunday, July 15
Garage Burglary:Β Overnight on July 15/16, someone went into an open garage in the 3000 block of Overton Way (the resident had accidentally left it open overnight), and stole a light blue Giant OCR3 road bicycle, with a small woman's frame and SPD clips.
Tuesday, July 17
Between midnight and 2:30 a.m. July 17, residents of a home on Carlina Court heard a crash coming from a room used as a home office. The residents weren't concerned because they assumed it was their cat knocking things down.Β Later they discovered that someone had gone into the office, scattered papers around and stolen a tablet computer, a camera, and cash and credit cards from a wallet.Β The burglar may have gotten in through an unlocked pedestrian garage door and then an unlocked door between the garage and the house.
Wednesday, July 18
Attempted Garage Burglary: At 5:30 a.m. July 18, a resident of an apartment complex in the 700 block of Central Park Drive heard a noise and saw two men trying to drag an exercise machine out of her garage.Β They had pried a door to get in. She yelled at them and they ran away.Β The incident was reported to police a few hours later.Β Β The suspects were described as white males, one wearing a black hoodie and the other wearing a gray and black striped hoodie.
Thursday, July 19
Garage Burglary: Between 8:30 and 9 a.m. July 19, someone was seen stealing an air compressor from the open garage of a house in the 1500 block of Pine Valley Circle, while the resident was going in and out of the house loading the car.
Between noon and 6:45 p.m. July 19, someone kicked the back door of a house in the 200 block of Donner Avenue and took a laptop computer and DVD player.
Saturday, July 21
Attempted Burglary: At 1:55 a.m. July 21, someone forced open the front door of a house in the 1000 block of Sandringham Way while the resident was away, activating a burglar alarm. It didn't appear that the burglar(s) made entry; possibly they were scared off by the alarm. Officers responded to check and secure the house.
Between 9 and 9:30 p.m. July 21, someone went into an apartment on Micro Court while the resident was away and took a laptop computer. There was no sign of forced entry, and the resident may have left the door unlocked.
Sunday, July 22
Between 8:30 p.m. July 22 and 12:30 a.m. July 23, someone smashed the rear window of a house in the 1300 block of Meadowvista Way while the residents were away, and took jewelry from a bedroom.
Between 2 and 8 p.m. on July 22, someone pried the back pedestrian door to a garage in the 1400 block of Crestmont Ave. while the resident was away, and went through the house, taking electronics, video gaming equipment and jewelry.
Vehicle-Related Crime:
Saturday, July 14
At 6:30 p.m. July 14, a man parked his car at an auto parts store in the 5100 block of Foothills Boulevard.Β His car was unlocked and the windows were down.Β When he returned five minutes later, his backpack and radar detector were missing.
Sunday, July 15
Between July 15 and 16, someone went into an unlocked car on Osprey Court and stole a portable GPS device, an ice chest and tools.
Monday, July 16
Between 7:30 p.m. July 16 and 8 a.m. July 17, someone went into a vehicle parked at an apartment complex at 1751 E. Roseville Parkway and took a wetsuit and a gray Mongoose Tyar bicycle. There was no sign of forced entry and it's unknown how the thieves got in.
Tuesday, July 17
Between noon on July 17 and 5:30 a.m. July 18, someone rummaged through two vehicles parked on Instone Court and took a portable GPS device, cell phone chargers and a tire compressor.Β There was no sign of forced entry and it's unknown how the thieves got in.
Overnight July 17/18, someone stole a blue 1989 Honda Civic four-door sedan with a Nevada license plate from the 1500 block of Crestmont Avenue.Β As of now, it's still missing.
Wednesday, July 18
Between 1:30 and 1:45 p.m. July 18, someone got into a parked vehicle in the 1400 block of Lead Hill Blvd, and took a backpack containing a laptop computer, an iPod and other items, probably using a partially open window for access.
Between 8:30 p.m. July 18 and 9:30 a.m. July 19, a white Honda Accord 4-door was stolen from the 8000 block of Painted Desert Way. The Sacramento Police Department found it the next day, unoccupied and damaged.
Thursday, July 19
Between midnight and 10 a.m. July 19, someone went into a Honda Accord parked in the 8000 block of Painted Desert Way and stole the stereo. The vehicle had been locked, and it's unknown how the thief got in.
Between 9:20 a.m. and 7 p.m. July 19, a maroon 1991 Honda Accord 4-door was stolen from a parking lot in the 900 block of Pleasant Grove Blvd.
Between 5:30 and 7 p.m. July 19, someone pried the doors of two pickups parked in the 300 block of North Sunrise Avenue and took stereos, tools, and numerous DVDs and music CDs.
Between 9 p.m. July 19 and 1:30 p.m. July 20, someone got into a locked vehicle in the 1100 block of William Way by unknown means and stole a portable GPS device and a phone charger.
Friday, July 20Β
Between 2 and 6 p.m. July 20, someone smashed the window of an SUV parked in the 300 block of North Sunrise Ave. and took an expensive purse that had been left behind the center console.Β The purse contained cash.
On July 20 or 21, someone cut the tire of an SUV parked at 700 Gibson Drive.
Between 5:40 and 9:40 p.m. July 20, a burglar smashed the windows of two cars in a fitness center parking lot in the 2500 block of Eureka Road, and took purses from each vehicle. One purse, containing the victim's cash, credit cards and ID, had been left on the front seat. The other purse, containing jewelry, had been hidden under the passenger seat.Β At 9:40 p.m., a witness saw a suspicious male quickly walking away from one of the burglarized cars, holding something in his hands. He was a white or Hispanic male in his 20s, 6'0" tall and 170 pounds, with short brown hair.Β He got into a waiting small silver car, similar to a 1980s model imported sports coupe, driven by a heavyset white female with long blonde hair. Officers responded immediately but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
At about 10:09 p.m. July 20, someone smashed the window of a vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Eureka and took a new iPad.Β A witness saw two males wearing light-colored T-shirts breaking into the vehicle.Β The suspects drove away in a silver early 2000s model Honda Civic with a California license plate ending in 655.
Vandalism:
Between July 15 and 17, someone shot a pellet gun at the windows of a restaurant in the 100 block of Atkinson Street, causing damage.
Overnight July 20/21, someone went onto three car dealerships in the 300 and 500 blocks of Riverside Avenue and scratched lines in the paint on several vehicles.
Between 4 a.m. and noon on July 21, someone threw a rock through the window of a car parked in the 400 block of Fifth Street.
Metal Thefts:Β
Overnight July 17/18, someone stole batteries from a commercial truck parked at Roseville Square, and tried to break into a vending machine, causing damage.
Overnight July 18/19, someone stole batteries from two rental trucks parked in the 100 block of Wills Road.
Thefts:
An unsecured bicycle was taken overnight July 16/17 from the 1600 block of Chilton Drive. The victim found his bike abandoned in a field in the 1800 block of Discovery Drive.
Between 6:30 and 6:40 p.m. July 18, an unsecured bicycle was stolen from a driveway in the 1600 block of Atwell Street. The stolen bike is a turquoise Premium Solo BMX bike.
On July 21 or 22, someone stole a "No Trespassing" sign from the 200 block of Thomas Street.
At about 7:30 p.m. July 23, someone stole a purse from an unlocked hotel office in the 100 block of Main Street. The victim found her purse discarded in a dumpster behind the building, with her cash missing.
