Deer Falls in 15-Foot Water Treatment Vault, Rescued by Local Officials
Officials say the deer was "probably pregnant," and apparently jumped a fence and fell in the concrete structure at a water treatment plant.
A doe fell into a 15-foot-deep concrete vault in Roseville Tuesday, and had to be pulled out by animal control and fish and game workers.
The deer, who the city says was "probably pregnant," was discovered in the concrete structure at a Roseville water treatment plant.
"Our Roseville Animal Control Officer called for help from Placer County Animal Control and the state Department of Fish and Game," the city said on its Facebook page. "A warden, vet, biologists and volunteer responded."
The deer was sedated, pulled up to ground level, and checked for injuries. The city said the animal only had abrasions from the fall, and she was set free.
