Deputies Help Free Bear Trapped Inside Tahoe SUV
A large bear found itself stuck inside an SUV over the holiday weekend, but Washoe County deputies were able to help it get to safety.

INCLINE VILLAGE, NV β Washoe County deputies helped free a bear from a vehicle in the Incline Village area over Memorial Day weekend after it got itself stuck inside an SUV.
The sheriff's office shared a video of the rescue effort Sunday, showing one deputy affixing a rope to one of the vehicle's handles before retreating to yank the door open. The bear, which comfortably took up both back seats, bumbles on out and saunters off into the woods.
The clip ends with a few photos of the vehicle's interior, showing the confused visitor did a number on the upholstery. Deputies used the incident as an opportunity to remind residents and visitors to stay vigilant as bears get more active throughout the spring and summer."

"Spring is an active time for our Tahoe bear population and a good reminder to be bear-aware when enjoying the beautiful outdoors," the sheriff's office wrote. "Be mindful of food wrappers, coolers, and scented items in vehicles. Avoid leaving food in cars. Don't leave garbage outside & dispose of trash inside (next net to) bear-proof designated receptacles."
