Fourth of July Run and Sept. Golf Tournament Will Benefit Police Programs

The Run Crime Out of Roseville 5K will be held on July 4, and the Keep Roseville Safe Golf Classic will be held Sept. 13.

Volunteers are preparing for two events to benefit the Roseville Police Department's crime tip hotline and its "shop with a cop" program.

The first, a 5K race on the Fourth of July, challenges residents to outrun Police Chief Daniel Hahn.

The race starts at 7:45 a.m. at Royer Park, 190 Park Dr.

Registration fees go toward Roseville Crime Stoppers and will "support Roseville Police Department tips rewards, special equipment purchases, K9 Corp support, and annual scholarships for local students pursuing law enforcement, criminal justice, sociology, and numerous other fields of studies," according to the organization's website.

Organizers are also planning a golf tournament on Sept. 13 to support Roseville Crime Stoppers and the Roseville Shop with a Cop program, where students are able to go on shopping sprees for new clothes with local police officers.

The golf tournament, the Keep Roseville Safe Golf Classic, will be held at Morgan Creek Golf Club and will feature an auction, raffle prizes, and the chance to win a Range Rover or Ford Mustang with a hole-in-one on certain holes. It will be followed by a banquet.

Christina Gunn, a spokeswoman for the golf tournament, said she hopes residents will give back to the police programs that help keep Roseville safe.

"Roseville is such a beautiful city and it's a safe city," Gunn said. "That's because the police department provides programs and activities that prevent crime and solve crime quickly. We take that for granted as residents living in the area."
