Gathering Inn Homeless Shelter to Re-Open Monday

The Gathering Inn's homeless shelter will re-open Monday, Sept. 17 after it was .

The nonprofit closed its shelter late-July, but assured people they hoped it would only be a temporary closure. They were right.

The Gateway Resource Center will re-open at 8 a.m. and the shelter will re-open at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The re-openings are thanks to Wells Fargo, Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health. The three groups donated a $100,000 challenge grant in hopes that local businesses would step up and help match the donation, according to a news release. Kaiser and Sutter each donated $10,000 and Wells Fargo made an $80,000 donation.

According to The Sacramento Bee, approximately $18,000 has been raised so far.

"We are ecstatic to have partners such as Wells Fargo, Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital, Sutter Roseville Medical Center and Kaiser. These partners are truly invested in the South Placer community," said The Gathering Inn Executive Director Suzi deFosset in a news release. "We are happy to get back to helping the homeless."
