The ranking is based on average SAT scores from the 2010-11 school year.

Granite Bay and Oakmont high schools are considered two of the "smartest public high schools" in the Sacramento region.
That's according to the Sacramento Business Journal's look at average SAT scores for the 2010-11 school year. They looked at the Sacramento region's public schools and created a list of the top 25 schools with the highest average SAT scores.
Granite Bay High came in at No. 6, tied with Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks, with an average SAT score of 1682 in 2010-11, according to the SBJ. Oakmont High School in Roseville tied with Del Oro High School in Loomis for the No. 15 spot with an average SAT score of 1619.
A perfect SAT score would be 2,400.
Mira Loma High School in Sacramento, within the San Juan Unified School District, came in at No. 1 with an average SAT score of 1852, the SBJ reports.
Other area schools that made the list include Rocklin High School, Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove and Folsom High School. Two Davis schools made the top three.
