Here are the top stories in Roseville today:
- The City of Roseville is once again hosting Bunnies and Baskets for children with autism and special needs. If you and your special needs child want to visit with the Easter Bunny and do crafts in a welcoming environment, times are still available for you to sign up! Forty-five-minute time slots are available, from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm on March 29. (Roseville Today)
- Construction started yesterday on a new tower at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Roseville. The expansion will bring 138 new beds, 20 of them ICU beds, and 728 new well-paying jobs to the area. Kaiser's current facility was built in 1998 for "a very different Roseville." Indeed, Roseville has expanded dramatically since then, and with the Kaiser facility serving about half of Rosevillians, this is a much-needed expansion. (ABC10.com KXTV)
- Ricky Vaughn, a 61-year old man from Roseville, was arrested Thursday in Citrus Heights. He is accused of "sexually assaulting multiple children over a 25-year span." According to police, charges include 12 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under age 14. Authorities believe Vaughn may have additional victims and request that you contact Citrus Heights police if you were victimized or if you have any information on the case. (KCRA Sacramento)
- In March 2005, Daniel Lee Bezemer murdered his then-girlfriend, Justine Vanderschoot of Christian Valley. On Thursday, parole was again denied for Bezemer. If it seems like you just heard about his parole being denied, that's because he was originally denied parole in August 2022, but the proceedings were not recorded. The new proceedings were necessary to ensure a record was obtained. "The parole board denied Bezemer’s parole for five years, citing it did not find him suitable for parole and believes he still poses an unreasonable risk to society." (Gold Country Media)
