National Night Out Set for Aug. 6

Many Roseville neighborhoods have barbecues and other events planned.

Roseville will celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6 with barbecues and block parties in an effort to strengthen neighborhood spirit.

Local leaders and law enforcement will be making stops at neighborhood parties that night, from 6-9 p.m. The idea behind National Night Out, a 30-year tradition, is to spread awareness on the importance of Neighborhood Watch programs, crime prevention and creating a positive police and community member relationship.

Previous year’s events have involved more than 15,000 communities from all 50 states in the U.S., according to the National Night Out website. In 2012, more than 37 million people participated in National Night Out, including residents from Roseville.
