Photo Gallery: Roseville Electric Celebrates 100 Years
The utility company tuned 100 this year and celebrated with the installation of a centennial clock and time capsule.
Thursday morning, Oct. 4, Roseville Electric celebrated its 100-year-anniversary marked with a centennial clock installation and a time capsule at Roseville Carnegie Museum.
The 22-foot clock sits in the corner of the museum property and was donated by KB Homes at least four years ago, Michelle Bertolino, Roseville Electric Utility Director said.
"It sat in Roseville Electric's yard waiting for a permanent home," she said.

Phoebe Astill, president of the Roseville Historical Society, said it was a welcome addition to the museum.
"It adds so much to the grounds here at the museum," she said. "We will enjoy it for many years to come."

Roseville Electric was formed 100 years ago and in October 2012, "the City was providing light to its first 150 customers," Bertolino said. "Roseville Electric was actually born out of frustration."
The utility company was created after residents petitioned because of poor electric service in Roseville, Bertolino said.
Now, it provides services to more than 54,000 residents.
In addition to the centennial clock installation, Bertolino and Mayor Pauline Roccucci filled a time capsule up with items like CFL lightbulbs, safety gear, LED holiday lights, a residential meter, utility bill and a Roseville Electric newsletter. The capsule now sits inside the clock, waiting to be opened in 25 years.
