Roseville District Seeks Suggestions in Naming New Elementary School

Have a name idea? Name suggestions can be submitted through Nov. 2.

Roseville City School District seeks input for naming a new elementary school in west Roseville.

Construction for the new school began in July, the Roseville Press Tribune reports, and is expected to open for the 2013-14 school year. The school will be located on North Hayden Parkway off of Fiddyment Road. It will be the 19th school in the district.

Residents can submit names for the new elementary school through Nov. 2. During the Nov. 15 board meeting, trustees will review name suggestions.

Roseville City School District released some criteria for school name suggestions:

  1. All names submitted will be considered by the Board.
  2. In naming a school or school facility for a location, primary consideration shall be given to places of historical significance of the state and/or Roseville, or a location in the community, such as, a subdivision, creek location or the like.
  3. In naming a school or school facility after a person, primary consideration shall be given to those individuals who have made a significant contribution to education and/or the community; or persons famous in California or Roseville history; or national and international figures of sufficient stature to provide inspiration to students and the community.
  4. Current employees and members of the Board of Education shall not be eligible for consideration to have schools or facilities named after them.

Submit your school name suggestion to the district by filling out the form, which is available at the district office or any school site within the district. Each name suggestions should also include documents and/or a resume.
