Roseville's Utility Exploration Center offering three ways to conserve energy during the holidays.

The Utility Exploration Center is offering three ways to conserve energy during the holidays -- free ENERGY STAR ratedΒ LED holiday lights, a green gift wrapping workshop and a recycled holiday craft session for the kids.Β
The center is located in the Mahany complex next to the Martha C. Riley Library,Β 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd.
Third Annual Holiday Light Exchange

10 a.m. - 5 p.m.,Β Tuesday through Saturday
Roseville residents, with a Roseville Electric account, can exchange their old incandescent holiday lights for new LED holiday lights. The center will exchange up to three light strands per household.

Those exchanging lights will need to fill out a Holiday Light Exchange participation card asking for an address and a Roseville Electric Utility account number. Participants wll need to provide a utility bill and a California Drivers License (for identification purposes only).
SIMS Recycling Solutions will recycle the exchanged lights.Β
Green Living Holiday Card, Decorations and Gifts Workshop for Kids
Dec. 1, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Construct holiday gifts, gift cards and decorations for family and friends this year by using Pringles cans, yogurt cups, old sheets and pillow cases, plastic bottles, egg cartons and clothespins.Β Price: $12-$15. Course # 60102. To register call (916) 746-1550
Gift Wrapping Demos & Gift Wrapping Station

Learn how to wrap gifts:
Learn about fun and exciting ways to wrap gifts this holiday season. Staff will demonstrate wrapping gifts using cloth, colorful recycled paper, pillow cases, clothing and much more.Β The beauty of gifts will not suffer; in fact, they will draw even more attention because they will be beautiful and unique. Attendees will learn how to wrap gifts at home using recycled materials. Free.Β
Bring gifts to be wrapped:
Bring unwrapped gifts and one of the Utility Exploration Center's staff will wrap it using cloth, recycled paper or another environmentally friendly material. Staff will provide materials and accept donations. Free.Β
