SACRAMENTO, CA — Local photographer Al Francis shared this photo of a group of Communication Workers of America — CWA —rallying at a downtown Sacramento AT&T facility on Saturday, March 30.

CWA District 9 members rallied with community supporters to show solidarity with the AT&T and DirecTV bargaining teams. Labor contracts with both carriers expired April 6.

In a simultaneous rally in Los Angeles, participants braved the rain to make their voices heard.

The March 30 demonstrations came just days after a districtwide day of solidarity. Members wore red, entered their workplaces as a unified group, and even turned their backs on management during morning briefings to show their determination.

At the Sacramento rally, which drew a crowd of 200 members and supporters, CWA Area Director Lynn Johnson and CWA Local 9412 President Keith Gibbs addressed a crowd at Cesar Chavez Plaza.

The group then marched to an AT&T Central Office to picket.

Friday, DirecTV and CWA District 9 reached a tentative four-year agreement that increases pay by 14 percent and reduces out-of-pocket health care costs.

Thank you for sharing this photo, Al.
