SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco Police Department arrested 10 suspects for shoplifting in the Central District and released them at the scene between late May and mid-August, according to a Thursday press release.

The arrests were part of pre-planned shoplifting and retail theft abatement efforts called 'blitz' operations, which included both uniformed and plain clothed officers.

The operations focused on retail stores located on the 100 through 400 block of Powell Street, chosen due to a high number of shoplifting incidents reported in the area, according to the press release. The arrests occurred between May 23 and August 13, and stolen property was returned to stores.
