45-Foot-Tall Naked Woman Sculpture Coming To San Francisco's Embarcadero Plaza
The sculpture "aligns with San Francisco's broader efforts to revitalize downtown," according to the city's Recreation and Parks Department.

SAN FRANCISCO — A 45-foot-tall sculpture of a naked woman is coming to Embarcadero Plaza in San Francisco.
The art piece, titled “R-Evolution,” is set to be unveiled April 10, the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department announced earlier this month.
"This sculpture is about being seen," artist Marco Cochrane said in the news release. "Women’s presence in public art is rare. When they are depicted, it is often through outdated or passive narratives. ‘R-Evolution’ challenges that. She stands strong, aware, and grounded — calling for a world where all people can walk freely and without fear."

Originally created for Burning Man, the sculpture is made of over 55,000 welds of steel rod and tubing. It illuminates at night and moves to simulate breathing for one hour each day.
“The arrival of ‘R-Evolution’ aligns with San Francisco’s broader efforts to revitalize downtown,” the news release said. “Studies have shown that public art increases foot traffic, enhances economic activity, and fosters cultural engagement. ‘R-Evolution’ is designed to activate the space — creating a landmark that invites locals and visitors alike to return to the city’s core."
