SAN FRANCISCO, CA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should know the forecast calls for June Gloom to stick around with cloudy mornings near the coast, sunny afternoons, and clouds returning in the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
"An upper low offshore will deepen the marine layer the next 24 hours and lead to slightly stronger onshore winds along with an inland cooling trend," NWS San Francisco forecasters wrote Sunday. "Instability associated with the upper low looks to remain north and east of the Bay Area through midweek. Another trough will approach by Thursday and Friday keeping a deep marine layer along with inland temperatures running near or slightly below normal."

In other news, a man was arrested in an arson investigation; an illegal firework exploded at a local high school; police arrested 97 suspects in a single day in San Francisco; and two people were displaced after a house fire.
Also, California residents planning a road trip over the long 4th of July holiday can expect to share the road with more than 61 million other motorists, according to a travel forecast from AAA. An estimated 72.2 million people overall will travel at least 50 miles from home to celebrate Independence Day.
