SAN FRANCISCO — Widespread warmth has arrived as promised in the Bay Area, and more than a few places could hit 80 degrees Friday and Saturday. According to the National Weather Service, the heat will be especially pronounced for inland communities, running warmest in the North Bay, Santa Clara and Salinas valleys.

The latest forecasts show Concord, Napa and San Jose hitting 80 degrees Friday and Saturday. Next week, they may go for a three-peat.

For those headed to the beach, temps will run coolest along the coast.

"Daytime highs remain comfortable in the 60s along the coast to near 80 inland, with overnight lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s through the weekend," NWS Bay Area forecasters said Friday. "By Sunday, a trough moving into the Pacific Northwest flattens the ridge a bit, bringing in slightly more robust onshore flow, which will act to strengthen the marine layer."

Even with the slight cooling Monday, the forecast stays sunny and pleasant, with highs ranging from the mid-60s to mid-70s. A repeat warming trend is likely to follow, and places like San Jose looking to break the 80-degree threshold more than once by mid-week.

That trend is in line with fresh climate outlooks that strongly favor a hot and dry April finale — but soak it all in while you can. Extended forecasts favor a wetter-than-usual turn to welcome May. While forecasters note that's a low threshold to clear, rain is still a fair bet.

"In the longer term, [models are] hinting at about a 40% chance of above average [precipitation] around the end of April/beginning of May timeframe," forecasters said. "That being said, average [precipitation] during that timeframe is generally less than 0.10", so heavily impactful [precipitation] is not expected"
