Blue Angels To Take Flight For Fleet Week After Shutdown Averted
A stopgap deal passed over the weekend will allow the Blue Angels to take part in the annual San Francisco tradition.
SAN FRANCISCO — The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will take their place as the centerpiece of San Francisco's Fleet Week airshow after a threatened government shutdown was averted Saturday.
To hear the organizers tell it, there was never any worry.
"The Air Show Network had full confidence that a resolution would be reached and we've maintained steadfast preparation," Jim Breen, chief executive of the organization that produces the air show, said in a statement.

San Francisco Fleet Week, the annual series of events that celebrate the nation's armed forces, was scaled back in 2013 when another government shutdown forced the precision flight demonstration team to cancel its appearance.
