NORTHERN CALIFORNIA — As a new week begins, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for a great week.

But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should expect dry and warmer weather to start off the week in the San Francisco Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service.

"A high pressure system moves in from the west resulting in dry conditions and a warming trend early to mid week then a slight cooling trend develops late in the week," NWS Bay Area forecasters wrote Monday.

In other news, a laser was pointed into the flight deck of a police helicopter, prompting a chase that ended with four arrests, police said.

A motorcyclist led multiple law enforcement officers on a triple-digit high-speed chase through Sonoma and Mendocino counties. Authorities estimated that the bike reached speeds of 140 mph.

A townhouse fire displaced six adults and eight children and killed two dogs, officials said.

A woman was arrested in after trying to attack a man with a machete in the North Bay, authorities said.

Plus, new signs of West Nile virus surfaced in a Contra Costa County. Groups of infected mosquitoes were found in traps in Martinez and Oakley, while an infected bird was found dead in Brentwood.
