Jennifer Siebel Newsom Calls Out 'Tech Oligarchy Running Our Country'

Her husband, Gov. Gavin Newsom, recently described President Trump's administration as "packed with billionaires enriching themselves."

SAN FRANCISCO — Jennifer Siebel Newsom, California’s first partner and wife of Gov. Gavin Newsom, went after Silicon Valley leaders this week, referring to them as a “tech oligarchy” with “unchecked” power, Politico reported.

Siebel Newsom made the comments Monday at the Common Sense Summit in San Francisco, according to the outlet.

“There’s a tech oligarchy running our country right now that is unchecked, where there’s no accountability and transparency,” she said during a panel, Politico reported.

Her remarks come days after the governor on Instagram described President Donald Trump’s administration as “packed with billionaires enriching themselves and advocating for tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy,” calling out X owner, Tesla CEO and presidential advisor Elon Musk by name.

Siebel Newsom also went after the tech industry last year for prioritizing “capitalist interests” above children’s health, according to Politico, which noted state lawmakers are pursuing plans to put warning labels on social media and crack down on chatbots in an effort to improve kids’ online safety.
