SAN FRANCISCO, CA — We've rounded up the stories you may have missed over the weekend to prepare you for the week ahead

But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should expect a warming trend to stretch across the Bay Area during the beginning of the week.

A compressed marine layer will "translate to areas of moderate to isolated regions of Major Heat Risk, especially across the East Bay, Santa Lucia Range, and some interior regions of the Central Coast," according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures on Wednesday will average between 5 to 20 degrees above normal, depending on the area. The heat will begin to subside for the latter half of the week, forecasters said.
