MUNI Ridership Exceeds 500K For The First Time Since Pandemic
Average weekday boardings in September hit 521,000, or 74% of September 2019 levels, and weekend ridership was 92%, Muni said.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco's bus and light-rail transit system, which struggled to bring back riders after the coronavirus pandemic, has passed 500,000 average daily boardings for the first time since February 2020, the Municipal Transportation Agency said Saturday.
Average weekday boardings in September hit 521,000, or 74% of September 2019 levels, and weekend ridership was 92%, Muni said.
The agency credited increased bus ridership led by the 49 Van Ness, which operates between Fort Mason and City College of San Francisco, at 143% in September.

It was followed by the 22 Fillmore, which runs between the Marina and the University of San Francisco's Mission Bay campus, at 122%.
The 14 Rapid Mission, which extends from the Ferry Building through the Mission and Excelsior neighborhoods to Daly City, was 115% recovered, according to Muni.
