Record-level king tides combined with heavy rain swamped roads from Sausalito to San Rafael, stranded cars, and overwhelmed drainage systems, though forecasters now expect only light drizzle through Wednesday.

Bay Area Athlete Qualifies For Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics (patch.com) — San Francisco readers can cheer on local sled hockey star Jen Lee, a three-time Paralympic gold medalist who has qualified for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games. The Bay Area athlete, an Army veteran and amputee, will return as Team USA’s standout goalie in March, continuing a journey that began after his rehabilitation introduced him to adaptive sports.
   

3. Longtime French Eatery Closes In SF: Report (patch.com) — San Franciscans are saying goodbye to Café Jacqueline, the beloved North Beach French restaurant that quietly closed on December 20 after 46 years. Known for its hand-crafted savory and sweet soufflés and romantic ambiance, the Michelin-praised spot at 1454 Grant Avenue was run by 90-year-old owner Jacqueline Margulis, who says she’d gladly help anyone interested in reviving soufflés at the location.
   

4. Displaced residents from San Francisco Tenderloin fire demand action (ktvu.com) — Dozens of residents displaced by the Dec. 12 fire at 50 Golden Gate Ave. in San Francisco’s Tenderloin are pressing City Hall and their building’s management for faster help and fairer treatment. They report lingering homelessness, tight legal deadlines on temporary housing offers, and frustration with red tape, while Supervisor Bilal Mahmood says the city is working on subsidies and replacement support.
   

5. San Francisco supervisors call for hearing into PG&E's massive blackout (ktvu.com) — San Francisco supervisors are demanding a formal hearing into December’s massive PG&E blackout that left about a third of the city without power and some residents vulnerable for days. They’re also exploring what it would take for San Francisco to run its own public power grid, while PG&E launches an independent investigation into the substation fire and defends its compensation offers.
