San Francisco Woman Stabbed As She Slept In SOMA

Police arrested a 44-year-old man in connection with the alleged attack.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A woman was attacked and stabbed as she slept this weekend in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood, police said. The 49-year-old woman was sleeping around 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of Minna Street when she awoke to find a man standing over her, police said.

The man stabbed the victim, who screamed and kicked at him. He then grabbed an A-frame and struck the victim once. Police arrived and took the suspect, a 44-year-old man, into custody. His name has not been released.

The woman was taken to a hospital with stab wounds but is expected to survive her injuries, police said.
