Heat Wave Coming, Bank Robbery Chase, Surfer Rescue: NorCal In Brief

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — As the weekend wraps up, we've rounded up all the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into Northern California’s top stories, the Bay Area is nearing another unusual spring heat wave. A gradual warming trend will follow a cooler start to the week, which may send temperatures well into the 80s by next weekend.

"[An] upper level ridge takes over Thursday and beyond kicking off a more noted warming trend," NWS Bay Area forecasters wrote Sunday. "Temperatures will increase to and surpass seasonal averages by next weekend. Highs at the coast/bays mid 60s to upper 70s and interior will be 80s to lower 90s."

Catching up on the weekend, a man suspected in two bank robberies led police on a pursuit before he crashed near Scotts Valley, and San Francisco firefighters pulled two surfers to safety before they were swept out to sea.
