Twitter Goes Down For Many Users Worldwide

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The social media giant Twitter said it fixed a technical bug Friday that caused a brief outage that left many across the globe unable to see their feeds.

Twitter, based in San Francisco, has about 211 million daily active users, according to Statista.

Screenshots posted by users showed users received an error message and were told to either refresh or log out, including this Patch reporter. The brief hiccup appeared to have been fixed for many of those users within minutes.
"Things should be back to normal now," Twitter said around 10:15 a.m. Pacific Time. "Sorry for the interruption!"

The blip didn't dissuade users from poking fun at the situation, including influencers, major brands and more.
"Twitter really said: 'I've been gone. Now I'm back,'" tweeted the verified account Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team.
The brand tweeted again two minutes later: "Twitter never left. It simply went away for a while."
Rainbow Six Esports used the opportunity to poke fun at an Esports commentator.
"Sorry for that recent outage. We won't let @blucasts anywhere near the servers again. Promise. Best regards, R6 Esports," the brand tweeted.

"Twitter had me thinking they snatched my page. #TwitterDown," tweeted user @khaaree. The tweet included a meme of a woman laughing overlaying another image of her crying.
"Twitter is down you're free," wrote @SwiftOnSecurity. A meme accompanying that post showed a woman whispering into another person's ear, giving them goosebumps.
