A Look at San Bruno's Public Art

Now that City Park is getting honoring residents who have made notable contributions, San Bruno can add one more piece of public art to its collection.

There aren't that many pieces of art in public places around town. But each one is uniquely San Bruno and each one has a story.

Take, for example, Boris Koodrin's five-piece mural on the grounds of the old Wells Fargo bank on San Mateo Avenue. The piece was completed in 2008 and commissioned to represent five aspects of San Bruno life: a red-tailed hawk, Seabiscuit, a gray fox, female pilots at Mills Field and the pre-World War II flower growers. Each mural holds a corresponding meaning that goes along with the poem that inspired the piece.
