City Taking Nominations for Community Recognition Award

Do you know a volunteer in the San Bruno community who is deserving of recognition for all the hard work and dedication he or she has demonstrated?

If your answer is yes, please nominate him or her for the Parks and Recreation Commission's Community Recognition Award.

The commission will review applications, and the award will be publicly presented to the deserving recipient at a televised Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.

The nomination deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012. Nominations can be submitted in person or by mail to: San Bruno Recreation Division, Attn: Community Recognition Award, 567 El Camino Real, San Bruno, CA 94066.

Nominations also can be submitted by e-mail to dbrewer@sanbruno.ca.gov.

The following are the criteria and guidelines for the award:

  1. A person who has given unselfishly to the city or community. 
  2. A person who has performed an outstanding task for the city or community. 
  3. A person who shows service to the city, its citizens and the community. 
  4. A person who goes above and beyond the call of duty for the city and the community. 

The nomination form can be found in the attachment or on the city's website.

Resident Norma Griffith received the award last year for her efforts to plant 25 trees at . The trees were previously cut down by developers, and they now stand more than 100 feet tall as they guard the “Redwood Remembrance Retreat” at the park.
