The California Public Utilities Commission will hold an educational symposium on in-line inspection of gas pipelines from 10 a.m-1 p.m. June 24 in the agency's auditorium in San Francisco.
The goal of this symposium is to provide a practical understanding of in-line inspection technology (also know as smart pigs), how they work, the science behind in-line inspection tools, what information in-line inspections can provide, how the information derived from in-line inspection compares to information derived from hydrostatic testing, and to learn about the implementation challenges to make a gas pipeline system "pigable."
Commissioners from the CPUC may attend and participate in the symposium, but no action will be taken.
