The San Mateo County Association of Realtors is offering seniors and the disabled cost-free help with tasks around the house in May with its Realtor Service Volunteer Program.
With the program, known as RSVP, Realtors and other real estate professionals take time out each year to perform household tasks that seniors and the homebound aren't able to do on their own. That work could include washing windows, trimming hedges, turning mattresses, planting flowers, changing light bulbs and replacing smoking detectors.
The deadline to apply for the program is March 8.

RSVP was first launched in each of the five districts of the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors in 2001, when a group of Realtors and real estate professionals in the Palo Alto and Menlo Park area wanted to find a way to serve their communities in a hands-on, personal way. The organization adopted the program as an official project in 2002.
Seniors can apply for this free service by calling 650-696-8200. They can also go online and download an application.
