Work on the San Bruno Grade Separation Project will take place Saturday, Sept. 17 to Friday, Sept. 23. Please note that the northern pedestrian crossing at the station is no longer in service and will remain out of service for the duration of the project. All patrons need to use the southern pedestrian crossing to move between the two train platforms.
Day work will take place between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. This work will include utility relocations, signal system upgrades, construction of amenities for the temporary station, track work, and water line and sanitary sewer relocations. Utility relocations will primarily occur at the intersection of San Bruno and San Mateo avenues. Motorists should expect delays. Relocation of water lines and sanitary sewers will primarily occur along Huntington and Angus avenues and may require temporary lane closures. Traffic cones and flaggers will direct motorists and pedestrians around the affected areas.
Night work will take place from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., outside of peak passenger service hours. This work will include paving for the temporary station along Huntington Avenue, signal system upgrades, grading for the shoofly, and construction at the intersections of San Bruno and San Mateo avenues. Digging work will require the use of a backhoe, mini-excavator and jackhammer. At times, noise levels could be as high as 75 decibels. Crews will use generators to power portable light towers. Night work will be done in accordance with Caltrain and city agreements and ordinances.
