Pile driving, which is an essential step in the construction of the foundation of the grade separation, began in February. Pre-drilling holes in preparation for the resumption of pile driving will begin on June 4. The pile driving will be limited to weekday daytime hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The work will involve excavation and drilling into the ground.
Other work, which includes digging with a backhoe and mini-excavator will be done from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews will excavate, install temporary shoring, install culverts, install utility infrastructure, prepare foundations, install rebar and pour concrete. Crews will use medium and heavy duty diesel vehicles to transport dirt and concrete.
Night work will occur from Sunday, June 3, through Friday, June 8, between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Crews will install utilities, excavate, and install temporary shoring in preparation for pouring foundations and building retaining walls.
