The pastor of recently was recognized by the San Mateo County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at its Mayors' Diversity Awards Celebration held Oct. 27 in Redwood City.
The Rev. Michael Brillantes, who was nominated by Mayor Jim Ruane, was one of 23 honorees at the event. The Diversity Awards are given to a person from every city in the county and are meant to recognize people from diverse backgrounds making an impact in their communities.

"St. Bruno’s Catholic Church provides services to diverse populations including the Latino, Tongan, Filipino, Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese communities.
Under Father Brillantes’ leadership, the Church has made numerous contributions to the community. It provides English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to its multicultural congregation. Father Brillantes has worked in coordination with Catholic Charities to provide transitional housing to the homeless population. He has provided and assisted with educational efforts to our diverse community aimed at reducing gang involvement.

In addition, Father Brillantes has offered the Church as a forum for outreach to communicate information regarding City information to our diverse community.
He has made many valuable contributions to the San Bruno community."
